Heavy Industries Taxila
- Heavy Rebuild Factory conceived in early seventies with the objective of rebuilding T-59 tanks of Chinese origin. Series production started in 1979. In early nineties, Heavy Industries Taxila was established as large military industrial complex with addition of other factories. Presently, it comprises six production units, a support facility and an R&D centre. Total covered area of Heavy Industries Taxila is 5.37 square kilometers.

Manufacturing Factories
- Tank Manufacturing Factory.Tank Manufacturing Factory was established in 1992. It progressively manufactured tanks T-69, T-85, Al Khalid & Armoured Recovery Vehicle W-653. Tank Manufacturing Factory has completed defence programmes of 2100 x different variants Main Battle Tanks and 510 x Armoured Vehicle. Currently it is undergoing the manufacturing of 220 x Tank Al- Khalid-I and 80 x Armoured Security Vehicle Protector.
- APC Manufacturing Factory.APC Manufacturing Factory was established in 1992 under transfer of technology agreement with UDLP of USA. This factory manufactures APC M113P and APC Variants and is presently developing Armoured Personnel Carriers Saad and Dragoon under a joint venture between Heavy Industries Taxila, M/S Coastal UAE & M/S Duma Belgium. APC Manufacturing Factory has completed defence programmes of 1822 x Armoured Personnel Carriers M113P. APC factory completed 590 x Mohafiz as commercial.
- Gun Factory.Gun Factory was established in 1992. The factory is capable of manufacturing and rebuilding smooth / rifle bore tank guns and presently manufacturing 125mm smooth bore tank guns for tank Al Khalid. It has completed production of 2560 x Tank Guns Barrels for Main Battle Tanks.

Rebuild Factories
- Heavy Rebuild Factory (T-Series).It was established in 1979 to rebuild and upgrade T-series tanks of Pakistan Army. It has upgraded T-59/T-69 to tank Al Zarrar & Armoured Recovery Vehicle W-653 to Armoured Recovery Vehicle W-653A and presently undertaking rebuild & up-gradation of tank T-85IIAP. The factory has completed rebuild programmes of 3363 x Main Battle Tanks.
- Heavy Rebuild Factory (M-Series).It was established in 1987, under an agreement with M/S General Dynamics USA and presently rebuilds APC M113 A1/A2/P & SP guns. It has completed 2471 x Armoured Personnel Carriers, 528 x Power Packs and 75 x SP Guns.

Support Facilities
- Advance Systems Rebuild Factory (ASRF).It was established in 2007 to rebuild optronics, fire & gun control systems of tank and integrate & standardize advance armour systems. It has completed 1615 x Thermal Imaging Sight assembled for Tank Al Zarrar / T- 59 and 893 x repair/developed of FCS / GCS parts of Main Battle Tanks.
- Advanced Research, Development & Information Centre (ARDIC).It was established in July 2007 and carries out R&D & integration of different systems of tanks / Armoured Personnel Carriers. It has completed Development of Gyro Power supply for MBTs in 2008, Development of bomb blankets, Motorized canopy for tank T- 69/T- 59 and Fatigue Analysis of structure of Tank Al-Zarrar, Rifle G-3 forearm design & development for POF, JF-17 Fighter Aircraft simulator joystick for PAC Kamra and PCB housing of LED Lights for private firm.
- Development, Engineering Support & Components Manufacturer (DESCOM) Is the backbone engineering support facility for all factories of Heavy Industries Taxila engaged in new manufacture and rebuild of tanks, Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Armoured Personnel Carriers and Guns equipped with high-tech CNC machines, a standard laboratory and materials testing equipment. DESCOM has completed commercial products of 45 x Discrete Armoured Vehicle.
- Indigenization. Indigenization of products / production output is a very important function of Heavy Industries Taxila which also gets linked to deletion and standardization systems of armoured vehicles. "Strength through Self Reliance" is the motto of Heavy Industries Taxila and strenuous efforts have been made to manufacture maximum number of high dollar value items within Heavy Industries Taxila / through civil industries. So far, 80,000 varieties of items have been manufactured in-house and 120,000 varieties of items through 550 local vendors of civil industries. As a result of these efforts, millions of foreign exchequer has been saved.
- Budget Allocation. On average Heavy Industries Taxila received budget of approximately US$ 650 Million per annum from Government of Paistan.
- Commercial Turnover. On average commercial turnover of Heavy Industries Taxila is approximately US$ 235 Million per annum.\
- Export. Heavy Industries Taxila has exported Armoured Personnel Carriers M113, Light Armoured Vehicle Mohafiz and Armoured Guard Post Aahan to Iraq, Bahrain, China and Yemen
- Participation in International Exhibitions Heavy Industries Taxila has been actively participating in International Exhibitions such as IDEX-Abu Dhabi, IDEF-Turkey, DSA-Malaysia, DSEI-United Kingdom and Eurosatory-France for past several years. Heavy Industries Taxila holds a position in world’s leading defence equipment manufacturing facilities and Heavy Industries Taxila products have captured attention of the world.
- Joint Venture Agreement Joint Venture is a good opportunity in the field of Public Private Partnership (PPP) for effective utilization of state owned assets to the benefits of all users of defence products / services. Heavy Industries Taxila has signed JV agreements with world leading international companies from Belgium, Ukraine, China, Spain, and Turkey. These JV agreements helped Heavy Industries Taxila to gain expertise and new technological knowledge for its continuing product improvements.
- Procurement Heavy Industries Taxila has a separate directorate for procurement of materials and necessary items for the manufacturing of defence products from renowned multinational companies in accordance with the international standards. Stores are accepted after strict & comprehensive test / trials conducted by Heavy Industries Taxila and also through Independent Third Party in collaboration with Pakistan Army.
- Cooperation with Different Countries High level delegations from different countries visited Heavy Industries Taxila to witness the production / manufacturing facilities and conducted comprehensive test/trial of defence products. Performance of these products is at par to its peers available in the world which has already been proven by inducting these equipments in Pak Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan. Heavy Industries Taxila has also offered Transfer of Technology of these equipments for installation / deployment in their setup.
- Quality Assurance In line with Heavy Industries Taxila’s mission to offer the best armoured security products, Heavy Industries Taxila has incorporated state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Laser Cutting and bending machines in its production facility under the direct supervision of our Engineering & Design department.Laser precision cutting and CNC bending ensure that each component of the armoured vehicle is custom designed and cut in accordance with leading industry quality standards. We have invested in multitudes of different testing equipment in order to continually verify that components meet our stringent quality standards. At Heavy Industries Taxila, we use only the highest quality pre-certified ballistic steel plates. While these are certified at the manufacturer level, these also undergo additional independent laboratory ballistic testing. In addition, all steel is randomly spot checked for hardness to ensure that the pieces meet the required standards for our designs. Ballistic glass used also utilizes the latest technology in production to offer the best protection in the industry. Suspension components undergo rigorous live dynamometer testing to ensure lifetimes meet expected usage. The final inspection ensures the complete vehicle meets the highest Heavy Industries Taxila standards. Every vehicle also undergoes a drive test to ensure great performance and handling as promised by Heavy Industries Taxila.
